How to Earn Points

Student section at Bryant-Denny Stadium

Points earned for UA credit hours completed are automatically added to students' accounts after each semester.

To earn points for attending home football games, various sport's home games, and for staying until the fourth quarter of home football games, students must:

  • Download the free Tide Loyalty Points app for iOS or Android
  • Using your phone's "Settings" menu, scroll to find the Tide Loyalty app
  • Within the Tide Loyalty location settings, choose whether to allow location access "always" or "while using the app"
    • If "always" is selected, you will automatically earn points for attending events and for staying until the fourth quarter of football games. Points will display within five minutes of entering the venue.
    • If "while using the app" is selected, you must open the app after entering the venue to earn points for attending events. For football games, you must open the app again after the start of the fourth quarter to earn fourth quarter points.
  • Within the Tide Loyalty location settings, turn on the "Precise Location" button.

Note: These location settings only need to be enabled while attending home athletic events. You may modify or disable these settings when not in attendance at an athletic event. The beacon technology used to operate the program only detects whether your phone is inside the venue during an athletic event. The exact location of your phone at any given point in time can never be accessed or shared by The University of Alabama or any third-party entities.

Students may also earn points for donating their student football ticket that would otherwise go unused.

Students may also earn a one-time bonus for joining Crimson Chaos.

Determining Ticket Priority

Football Postseason Tickets

Students interested in purchasing postseason tickets must opt-in for the chance to purchase during the designated opt-in window for the SEC Championship Game (if applicable) and for the College Football Playoff or bowl game (if applicable). After the opt-in period for each game has closed, students will be ranked from most points to fewest points, then tickets will be assigned until availability is exhausted.

SEC Championship Game tickets (if applicable) will be allocated by total Tide Loyalty Points earned as of November 7-11 (approx.). College Football Playoff or bowl game tickets will be allocated by total Tide Loyalty Points earned as of November 26-28 (approx.). Students' point totals on each of these dates will include all UA credit hours earned through the 2022 fall semester, plus all events attended while enrolled at The University of Alabama.

Football Regular Season Tickets

Returning students who are interested in purchasing regular season tickets must opt-in to purchase during the designated opt-in window for regular season tickets. The opt-in window takes place during the April before each season. After the opt-in period has closed, students will be ranked from most points to fewest points and full season tickets will be assigned until availability is exhausted. Once full season tickets are exhausted, all other students who opted in will be offered a partial season ticket package.

Students' point totals will include all UA credit hours earned through the 2022 fall semester, plus all events attended while enrolled at the University of Alabama through March 13-15 (approx.).

Postseason Tickets – Other Sports

The postseason student ticket sales process for other sports will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In cases where The University of Alabama has access to a student ticket allotment, priority access to purchase from that allotment will be determined by Tide Loyalty Points.

FAQs

Fans watching the game from the student section
How do I know whether I've received my points for attending a game and staying until the fourth quarter?
You will automatically receive a notification on your phone when your points have been awarded. If you do not receive a notification from Tide Loyalty Points, open the app and visit the "Activity" tab to see whether your points have been added. If for some reason your points are not awarded automatically, visit the Tide Loyalty Points kiosk at the top or bottom of the southeast spiral (nearest the student section) before leaving the stadium to be awarded your points manually.
My points for attending a game and/or staying until the fourth quarter are not displaying on my account. How can I fix this?
If your points are not displaying while you are still at the game, visit the Tide Loyalty Points kiosk at the top or bottom of the southeast spiral (nearest the student section) for assistance. To appeal missing points after the game has concluded, please submit an official appeal within 72 hours of kickoff on the app. The Student Government Association in conjunction with Alabama Athletics Marketing will review your appeal and, if approved, manually add the missing points to your account.
If my phone dies during the game but I stay until the fourth quarter, is there another way to earn my Stay for Four points?
There are charging stations located on the concourse outside of the student section in Bryant-Denny Stadium where you will be able to charge your phone. If you need further assistance visit on of the Tide Loyalty Points Kiosks located at each level of the student section. Please be prepared with a valid ACT card to receive points.
I don't have a smartphone. Can I still participate?
Yes, visit the Tide Loyalty Points kiosk at each level of the student section upon arrival at Bryant-Denny Stadium to receive your points for attending the game. Visit the kiosk before exiting the stadium to receive your points for staying until the fourth quarter.
If I attend a game but do not sit in the student section, how can I earn my points?
The beacon technology used to automatically award Tide Loyalty Points is installed in the student section of Bryant-Denny Stadium only. If you attend a game but sit outside of the student section, you will need to present your ACT card or valid photo ID at one of the Tide Loyalty Points kiosks located at each level of the student section inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. Visit the Tide Loyalty Points Kiosks again before exiting the stadium to receive your Stay for Four bonus.
If I attend a football game but there is severe weather causing the game to be postponed or cancelled after I have arrived, can I earn my Stay for Four points?
In the event of severe weather, or if the temperature reaches 92 degrees at any time after kickoff, all students who received Tide Loyalty Points for attendance will automatically receive Stay for Four points.
I don't want to allow the app to always access my phone's location. Is there another way to earn points for attending games and staying until the fourth quarter?
Yes, you can allow the app to access your phone's location only "When Using the App." When this option is selected, you will need to open the app while inside the stadium to earn your points for attending the game, and again after the start of the fourth quarter to earn your points for staying until the fourth quarter.
Can I still upgrade a student ticket to a student guest ticket with Tide Loyalty Points?
Yes, you may upgrade a maximum of (2) student tickets to student guest tickets per season. After upgrading (2) tickets in the same season, students will not be able upgrade tickets for any additional games.
What happens if I have football game tickets that go unused?
Students who do not use their ticket for (3) games in the same season will not be included in the initial opt-in opportunities for postseason tickets for the current year or for regular season tickets for the next year. If postseason or regular season tickets remain after the initial opt-in period, students with three or more unused tickets in the same year can then opt-in to purchase.
I participated in Tide Loyalty Points before but do not see any of my previously earned points. Where are they?
Beginning in the fall 2022 semester, all Tide Loyalty Points holders will start at a total of zero points. This is to ensure complete fairness across the app in its first official year back. Once the year has concluded, points will begin building from year to year. Thank you for understanding as we bring back Tide Loyalty Points!
How can I donate or transfer my student ticket for a future game?
Ticket donations and transfers will still be managed through your myTickets account.
I donated my student ticket, then decided to attend the game and received a separate ticket from the donation pool. Can I earn points for donating a ticket and attending the same game?
No, you cannot earn points for donating a ticket to a game and attending the same game.
How does my Tide Loyalty Points ranking affect my ability to purchase regular season football tickets?
All students who are returning for the fall semester will receive an email in the spring with the invitation to opt-in to purchase regular season tickets. After the opt-in period has closed, those students who are interested in regular season tickets will be ranked from highest point total to lowest point total. If demand exceeds the number of seats available in the student section, a point cutoff will be set to assign full-season packages to students above the cutoff and split-season (three or four games) packages to students below the cutoff. All returning students who opt-in will be guaranteed a ticket package, but their Tide Loyalty Points ranking will determine how many games will be included in the package.
I am an incoming freshman or transfer student and have not accrued any Tide Loyalty Points. Can I still purchase regular season tickets?
Yes, incoming students can purchase a split-season ticket package on a first-come, first-served basis during the incoming student ticket sale in June.
How will I know whether I've earned enough points to purchase postseason tickets?
All students will receive an email in November with the invitation to opt-in to purchase postseason tickets. After the opt-in period has closed, those students who are interested in postseason tickets will be ranked from highest point total to lowest point total. If demand exceeds the number of seats available in Alabama's student ticket allotment, a cutoff point total will be set and only those students ranked above the cutoff point will qualify to purchase a postseason ticket.
Does my Tide Loyalty Points ranking affect my postseason seat location?
Yes, all seat locations will be allocated based on your Tide Loyalty Points.
I am an Alabama student-athlete. How do I participate in Tide Loyalty Points?
Current student-athletes must also download the Tide Loyalty Points app and enable location services and Bluetooth to participate. As usual, enter Bryant-Denny Stadium through Gate 25. Your points for attending the game will automatically be awarded upon entry, and your Stay for Four bonus points will automatically be awarded at the start of the fourth quarter.
